Data the app processes
- Account information used for sign-in through Firebase Authentication, including email/password accounts, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, and anonymous guest sessions.
- Local reading and study data, including settings, selected translation, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, prayers, achievements, and reading plan progress.
- Local reminder settings used to schedule verse-of-the-day, reading, and prayer notifications that you enable.
- Verse text or verse art only when you choose to share it through the system share sheet.
- Bible content requests for remote translations, search data, and chapter resources when the app cannot use bundled or cached content.
- Chapter audio requests when you play streamed Bible audio, plus local cached audio files used to improve playback.
- AI study messages and AI chat history when you use the AI Study Assistant.
- Basic technical data handled by Firebase, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, Firebase Storage, Firebase Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, and Google Gemini as needed to operate authentication, remote Bible content, AI processing, and backend services.
How data is used
- To authenticate you and maintain your signed-in session.
- To remember reading preferences and restore your local reading state.
- To display bookmarks, notes, highlights, prayer entries, achievements, and plan progress.
- To schedule and deliver reminders you choose to enable.
- To fetch Bible text, translation catalogs, search resources, and chapter audio when network content is needed.
- To process AI study questions, enforce AI message limits, and show recent AI chat history for signed-in users.
- To support account deletion, password reset, and sign-out flows.
Local data and remote data
- Settings, reading progress, bookmarks, notes, highlights, prayers, achievements, and plan progress are stored locally on your device using Hive.
- Some Bible text and audio resources may be downloaded from Firebase Storage, GitHub-hosted public Bible datasets, or public audio sources, then cached on your device.
- Firebase Authentication stores account identifiers and provider information for signed-in accounts.
- AI study messages are sent to Firebase Cloud Functions. The backend may store recent AI chat messages and usage counters in Cloud Firestore under your authenticated user ID.
- The AI Study Assistant sends prompts to Google Gemini through Firebase Cloud Functions for response generation.
Permissions and choices
- Notification permission is requested only when needed for reminders. If you deny notification permission, reading, prayer, plans, Bible search, and other core features remain available, but reminders will not be scheduled.
- Internet access is used for sign-in, legal pages, remote Bible resources, chapter audio, Firebase services, and the AI Study Assistant.
- Foreground service and wake lock permissions support chapter audio playback and reminder reliability.
- Boot completed permission allows scheduled reminders to resume after reboot or app update.
- Vibration permission may be used for local notification delivery on supported devices.
- The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location, SMS, call log, or broad photo/media library permissions in the reviewed Android build.
Sharing
Vvi Bible uses the system share sheet only when you choose to share verse text or verse art. The app does not automatically publish your notes, prayers, or reading activity to social networks.
Account controls
- You can use the app as a guest or sign in with a supported account method.
- You can sign out from the Profile area.
- You can request a password reset from the email sign-in flow.
- Signed-in users can initiate account deletion from Settings. Some providers may require recent re-authentication before deletion completes.
- Deleting your authentication account does not automatically erase local data already stored on your device. You can remove local data by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
Retention
- Local reading and study data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Cached Bible and audio resources remain on your device until the app cache is cleared by the app, operating system, or user action.
- Firebase Authentication account data remains until the account is deleted or handled according to Firebase project settings.
- AI chat history and usage counters may remain in Cloud Firestore until cleared through app functionality, deleted with backend maintenance, or removed when no longer needed for the service.
Third-party processors
- Firebase Authentication for sign-in and account management.
- Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In when you choose those providers.
- Firebase Storage and public GitHub-hosted Bible datasets for remote Bible resources.
- Firebase Cloud Functions and Cloud Firestore for AI Study Assistant processing, chat history, and usage limits.
- Google Gemini for AI response generation.
- Public audio sources when chapter audio is streamed.
These providers may process data on infrastructure located outside your country or region.
Security
Vvi Bible relies on device security, Firebase security controls, HTTPS transport used by supported service SDKs and APIs, and the security practices of integrated providers. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not designed specifically for children. If you believe a child submitted personal information through the app, contact us so we can review the request.
Changes
This policy may change as app behavior changes. When the app adds or changes data handling, this document should be updated to match the real implementation.
